Chris Norton of Cardiff Racing send in some great photo’s of the team and attached a bio.
“Cardiff Racing is made up of undergraduate engineers from Cardiff University in Wales. Having overcome many reliability issues with the Aprilia engine, CR07 was set to put in a strong performance in 2011 for both the FSUK event at Silverstone and FSG held at the Hockenheimring in Germany. Unfortunately, problems with the wheel centres resulted in a cautious driving style having to be adopted and the overall result for the UK was 19th overall and 5th of the UK teams. Once again an issue with the wheel centres meant that we could not finish the endurance in Germany and ended up 41st overall but once again 5th out of the UK teams present.
For CR08 and the 2012 season, the intention has been to build on our recent advances in making increasingly lighter and reliable cars. One major change has been a move to a half space-frame, half monocoque design with the team focusing on improving the functionality and performance of the car.”
